OurHistory
The roots of Galaxy Energy Group trace back to 1989 when Galaxy Energy AG was founded in Zug, Switzerland, by one of our current shareholders, Mr. Massimo Filosa, now the Group’s Honorary Chairman.
Today, Galaxy Energy Group operates primarily through its subsidiary, GALTRADE LTD, established in the British Virgin Islands in 1997, with Newton Shipping Services Limited, registered in Liberia, handling our chartering activities. Over the last three years, the Group has maintained a strong presence in the petroleum and shipping markets, trading million tons of petroleum products annually and managing hundreds of voyages each year.
In 2000, Galaxy Energy Group Ltd. was incorporated in the British Virgin Islands, structuring the oil trading division into a separate entity. The Group relocated its headquarters to Monaco in the mid-1990s, where core management has since remained steady. Business operations continue to be managed in Monaco through our service company, GEG Management SAM.
To expand into the Middle Eastern market, the Group launched a trading arm in 2016, Galtrade Middle East DMCC, and in 2022, further solidified its presence by establishing GEG Management DMCC in Dubai as a dedicated service office.
In 2025, GEG Management DMCC is expanding its footprint in Asia by opening a new office in Kazakhstan. This strategic move, supported by current employees and a dedicated local team, aims to strengthen our presence and operations in the region.
